Recent discussions about how road safety & wildlife crossings are managed have highlighted the need to clarify what certified flag personnel are trained for and legally permitted to do under the National Road Traffic Act, 93 of 1996.

Exceptions when you may use flags on public roads, including: · Marshals directing participants during events held on public roads; · Persons driving animals or · US 258923 - “Ensure Safety at Road Works in Urban Areas (Flagman)”

OM urges all persons to refrain from engaging in conduct which may constitute a contravention of road traffic legislation. Misusing training credentials - even with the best intentions - could lead to unnecessary danger or liability for public & contractors.

July 2025 Traffic Office Saturday Hours Overstrand Traffic Services in Hermanus will be open on Saturday, 19 July 2025, from 08:30 to 11:30. For enquiries, please contact the Traffic Services Switchboard at 028 313 1044 or 028 313 8136.

The Hermanus Community Day Centre (CDC) usual number, 066 953 7861, is out of order and cannot be used at the moment. Temporary number to use: 028 312 2175.

The Roadworthy Testing Centre will be closed on 18.07.25 due to annual equipment calibration. Trailers, motorbikes & caravans will still be accommodated on this day. Light motor vehicles & heavy vehicles (trucks) will not be able to undergo testing, as rollers will be unavailable

Extended Service on Saturday, 19 July 2025: To assist residents, the Roadworthy Testing Centre will be open from 08:00 to 12:00 on Saturday. Please note the earlier opening time, which differs from the usual Saturday start time of 08:30.

A full-day power outage is scheduled for 24 July 2025 from 06:00 to 18:00 in Hawston. The rest of the Greater Hermanus area will not be affected.

The Eskom power outage planned for 24 July in Hawston has rescheduled to 30 July 2025. Eskom also informed us that Vermont will be affected by the full-day outage, which will happen from 06:00 to 18:00. The rest of the Greater Hermanus area will not be affected.

Mayor Klaas officially opened the new container facilities at the Overhills Soccer Field in Kleinmond. The new facilities include 1 container repurposed as an office and clubhouse, 2 containers serving as dressing rooms, and 2 more converted into ablution facilities.

Municipal refunds from property sales will now be paid directly to the transferring attorney, rather than the seller (as per Municipal Property Rates Policy - Section 17.2), effective 1 July 2025.
