An important study for those concerned with, & critical of, efforts to counter false information. It's why asymetric misinformation requires 'due', not false, balance👇 This is as true in other countries & contexts (think India or Brazil, as examples) as it is in the US, too.

A first generation of fact-checkers started with FactCheck.org in 2003 - a year before social media was a thing Africa Check started in 2012 checking claims made in print and broadcast media and offline settings… Then in 2016 things changed … Maybe time to change back?
