A few points: 1) As Lee pushes this selloff, the Trump admin is working to rescind national monument designations. So monument areas could end up getting sold. 2) Some of the best hunting, fishing, camping, etc, are on fed land that isn’t designated parks or wilderness …

3) People need to understand that Lee and his allies are on an ideological crusade against public land. This is part of a long game effort, driven primarily by Utah and powerful institutions there. Lee is trying to set precedent and if he succeeds more selloffs will likely follow

The government doesn't own the land. The American people do. Lee can't seem to understand that central fact, which is why he's been flailing amid a fierce bi-partisan backlash to his mass public land sell off.

Scoop: Matt Giacona was a lobbyist for a top offshore oil industry trade group. Now he runs the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, where he is working on many of the same issues that were the focus of his lobbying efforts. Ethics experts sound the alarm. publicdomain.media/p/matt-giacona…

this story is almost as wild as the statement Interior sent in response to give it a read. hard to see this as anything but a blatant ethics violation
