This #BlackHistoryMonth, MJFF is sharing The PD Movers: We Keep Moving, an illustrated storybook resource for Black patients and families navigating #Parkinsons disease, produced and supported by Columbia University University Irving Institute for Translational Science.

To date, most #Parkinsons research and care has not served and been fully representative of all people who live with the disease. MJFF is committed to sharing meaningful resources that have candid and relatable insights and practical strategies about navigating life with PD.

Because Black people with PD are underrepresented in Parkinson's research, the full impact of Parkinson's on the Black and African American community is unknown.❗️There is no current estimate of how many Black people are living with Parkinson’s in the U.S.❗️(1/3)

Diversity in research is essential to setting the foundation to find new treatments. Studying health disparities, conducting more targeted and inclusive research and more accurately diagnosing PD in the Black community will help us learn more. (2/3)
