Every life is precious yet we must highlight and remind the world of the frivolous way in which some lives are treated over others!

It was great to join my colleagues & advocates in demanding the passage of Rep. Rick Krajewski's bill, HB1756 to standardize voting procedures in all county jails. In the 2020 general election, only 52 out of 25,000 eligible inmates voted.

This week we stood with our advocacy partners and friends in the State Legislature to lift up HB 1756, a measure that codifies and creates the processes and procedures for voting while in jail. This isn't radical, it is simply creating the space for jail admins to do their job.

Voting isn't a privilege, it is a human right and the de facto disenfranchisement that is occurring in PA county jails due to the lack of processes and procedures must be addressed. HB 1756 is a huge step forward!

I look forward to continuing the fight to ensure that robust voting practices are in place at every county jail in the Commonwealth. Grateful for the collaboration of the State Department, All Voting is Local, PA Leg Black Caucus, The PENNfranchise Project and more.
