Familiar issues for emergency medicine - services in more deprived areas face greater needs across the spectrum of illness. Echos a key point from David Chung 🦀 at our last meeting - age-based services poorly serve deprived areas, where early and multimorbidity frailty is common

Peter Hanlon This paper showed the extreme acceleration of this effect in a population in an extreme position of socio economic deprivation - people experiencing homelessness. Living in hostels that are woefully under-resourced to meet their residents needs. pathway.org.uk/resources/prem…

Thank you so much British Geriatrics Society for this #BGSRisingStar award! It’s a hugely exciting time to be doing research to better support people living with frailty and long-term conditions. Very grateful for the award, and to the many who have supported me to far.

Our new paper in JAMA on age and sex differences in efficacy of diabetes treatments. It shows that older age is associated with greater cardiovascular benefits of SGLT2 inhibitors despite smaller improvement in HbA1c compared to younger people. jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…

Does age or sex make a difference in how well newer glucose-lowering drugs work in patients with type 2 diabetes? SGLT2 inhibitors may be more effective in reducing cardiovascular events in older adults with type 2 diabetes. Read more: ja.ma/3Cqvk7z
