The largest global gathering on disability inclusion, #CoSP18 #CRPD, kicked off in New York. 🇵🇱’s Łukasz Krasoń stressed that security must not come at the expense of humanity, and called for raising awareness of the potential of persons with #disabilities in all areas of life.

At #CoSP18 CRPD, Łukasz Krasoń, VM at 🇵🇱’s Ministerstwo Rodziny, Pracy i Polityki Społecznej, met with 🇪🇺 counterparts & stakeholders for the traditional informal breakfast mtg, chaired by Polish presidency of the Council of the EU. They discussed how to better amplify the EU voice in promoting rights & potential of persons with disabilities.

At #CoSP18 thematic roundtable, Min. Łukasz Krasoń stressed that money alone isn’t enough. He called for personalized support - like 🇵🇱’s personal budget model - and strong personal assistance to enable independent living for all persons with disabilities, in line with #CRPD.

At the ECOSOC-PBC meeting on Haiti, 🇵🇱 stressed that the exacerbating humanitarian crisis in the region requires the comprehensive peace-development-humanitarian nexus approach. We also encouraged the UN system & IFIs to fast-track local peacebuilding & violence reduction plans.

Today, we start the final day of general debate of 🇺🇳 Ocean Conference #UNOC3, with 🇵🇱, represented by Krzysztof Szczerski, as chair. Countries & intl. organizations present actions & commitments to conserve and sustainably use the ocean & seas 🌊, as well as successful partnerships.

At #UNOC3 in Nice 🇫🇷, during a thematic session on regional maritime cooperation, Amb. Krzysztof Szczerski underlined the role of the Council of the Baltic Sea States, and the priorities of the upcoming 🇵🇱 Presidency in the Council.

On the margins of #CoSP18, Polish presidency of the Council of the EU 🇵🇱🇪🇺 hosted a side event to raise awareness about the potential of persons with disabilities - including in the media. On the eve of the ECOSOC Humanitarian Affairs Segment and Transition Meeting, ECOSOC VPs Amb. Krzysztof Szczerski 🇵🇱 and Amb. Maritza Chan 🇨🇷 met in Geneva with Tom Fletcher Tom Fletcher. Preparations for the HAS and the current humanitarian landscape were the focus of the meeting.

The UN ECOSOC President Meeting on Transition from Relief to Development, under the co-chairmanship of Amb. Krzysztof Szczerski 🇵🇱 and Amb. Maritza Chan 🇨🇷, took place today in Geneva. Discussions in two panels focused on: ▫️ durable solutions for IDPs ▫️ innovative financing in crisis contexts

At the #ECOSOC side-event on protecting health care, Amb. M. Broiło pointed out that health facilities should be sanctuaries where lives are saved and health is nurtured. He also paid tribute to health care workers whose courage and commitment remain an inspiration to humanity.

The ECOSOC Humanitarian Affairs Segment, chaired by 🇨🇷, started today in Geneva. Over the next 3 days Member States will discuss how to reinvigorate the humanitarian system. Amb. Krzysztof Szczerski, as ECOSOC VP, presided over debates in the morning and afternoon sessions of the HAS.

The current 🌎 humanitarian situation and the 🇪🇺 humanitarian assistance were the topics of the conversation between Amb. Krzysztof Szczerski and EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid 🇪🇺 Director-General Maciej Popowski. The meeting took place in Geneva on the margins of the ECOSOC HAS and Transition Meeting.

Each year, 20 June marks World Refugee Day, an international day established to honour people who have been forced to flee their home countries to escape conflict or persecution. Poland has been supporting UNRWA for years.

🇵🇱 DPR Michal Miarka at today’s #UNSC meeting on 🇺🇦: „Poland strongly and invariably condemns Russia’s simulated engagement in the peace process, kidnapping of Ukrainian children as well as its desire to destroy Ukrainian statehood".

In Geneva, Amb. Krzysztof Szczerski met with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk. Among the issues discussed were the UN80 Initiative and the need to preserve the integrity of the 3 interconnected 🇺🇳 pillars: peace and security, sust. development and human rights.

First day of the 35th Meeting of States Parties to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea: 🇪🇺 and its Member States strongly support #UNCLOS and #ITLOS. The integrity of maritime boundaries and navigational freedoms need to be secured, and marine resources protected.
