You also can’t effectively support the affiliates without consulting the experts about how resources should be spent. That means the workers who actually make the affiliates run, not the management who try to bust our unions. They don’t know what workers or patients need, we do!

Last week, PPFA laid off 38 of our union members — in addition to members from Planned Parenthood Union, DC — just days shy from the anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade. 1199seiu.org/media-center/m…

We condemn PPFA’s lack of collaboration with its employees and their unions in navigating a major restructuring. We call on PPFA to urgently reassess these damaging layoffs.

When we talk about numbers, it is worth noting that PPFA stopped backfilling roles months ago — and without job security, a lot of union members (and others!) already left the org. Teams aren't just losing a few people: many were already wildly understaffed before the layoffs.
