Conferences are growing increasingly unattainable for early career, international, smaller-school, etc. scholars. So much of this is out-of-pocket, and I don’t know how much more folks are going to be able to continue to do this when they aren’t at “well-funded” institutions.

I also think part of this shift means we need to reevaluate what we see as value institutionally. We need to push our P&T committees to consider more: - community-engaged and applied research - pedagogy-impacted & scholarship of teaching and learning - policy work - consulting
