With officials frm NARO Uganda & National Agricultural Advisory Services -NAADS we are in nyakayojo division checking on grape farmers & listening to their issues . They want to add on table grapes. They hv been growing grapes mainly for wine making. I have put up a team headed by NARO Uganda to sort their issues..

Today, Hon. Frank K Tumwebaze,MP: Isaiah 41: 11 has concluded a dayβs visit to grape growing areas of Mbarara where he has held meetings with City leaders and farmers. This is part of efforts to promote growing and addition of value to grapes.

Grape farming in Uganda is set to blossom as NARO, and MAAIF πΊπ¬ set out to ensure the availability of quality seeds. This initiative will see farmers grow table grapes for home consumption, and improve the quality of our grapes will create the market.

Earlier today, our team from the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries led by the Hon. Minister Frank K Tumwebaze,MP: Isaiah 41: 11 was hosted by Vision Group in Kampala. We thank the Group CEO Don Wanyama and Barbara Kaija for sustaining the collaboration and supporting agriculture.
As we approach the cropping season, the teams Uganda Multisectoral Food Security & Nutrition Pro from the different districts have started planning meetings on how best to implement the project activities despite the lockdown. The preliminary activities like nursery bed establishment have also started.
Pleased to meet H.E Vice President Jessica Alupo the VP . We received her policy guidance on some of the mechanisation intervention areas MAAIF πΊπ¬ is doing in Eastern Uganda. And next week i will lead a team to Teso for stakeholder engagements on cassava value chain issues & irrigation
I thank H.E Gen. Yoweri K Museveni Tibuhaburwa for having entrusted me with the docket of MAAIF πΊπ¬ Permanent Secretary since 2016. It has been a worthwhile journey with a highly productive team. I congratulate Maj. Gen. David Kyomukama Kasura the new PS and wish him the best.
