Sad to hear of the passing of Jack Welch, a trailblazing radio and SETI astronomer. Our hearts are with Jill Tarter, their friends and family, and the UC Berkeley and The SETI Institute communities he called home.

Since its inception in 2001, extraordinary individuals such as Frank Drake, Charles Townes, William Borucki, Victoria Meadows, Jason Wright, Paul Horowitz, Dan Werthimer, Shelley Wright and John Rummel have received the Drake Award for their groundbreaking contributions.

Victoria Meadows Jason Wright Shelley Wright The 2024 Drake Awards ceremony is scheduled for May 16, 2024, at the Computer History Museum Museum in Mountain View, CA, at a public event. The SETI Institute will also livestream the event via Zoom for those unable to attend in person. Dr. Moiya McTier will host the event.
