When it comes to public investment, evidence matters. Lab for Economic Opportunities (LEO)'s research shows that The Excel Center grads see a 40% increase in earnings about 5 years after they first apply. This 'high school for adults' model is the most powerful workforce innovation in the last decade.

One cool side benefit of my work with The Excel Center is that it reconnected me with Patrick McAlister. We were State Farm summer interns together all the way back in 2007

A little preview of the halftime show for anyone tuning into NBC tomorrow for the national TV debut of Patrick S. Turner and Betsy Delgado talking about our research on adult high school diplomas from The Excel Center and Lab for Economic Opportunities (LEO) coming soon to AEA Journals. (Ok, maybe also football.)

Come work with us! We are hiring a research faculty position to join Lab for Economic Opportunities (LEO) within Notre Dame Economics to work on a research agenda doing top-quality research on poverty in the US in partnership with social service providers. What I like about this job...

Inquisitive minds lead to big changes. Our partnership with The Excel Center shows that investing in education for adults leads to better jobs and more stability. Learn more about the impact in Patrick S. Turner's write-up in The Conversation U.S.: bit.ly/3zwtPTA

This is a fascinating and really well-done paper on spillover consequences of the opioid epidemic. If you havenāt read Vicky Barone and Caroline Arteagaās paper yet, hit up her GitHub at the link and get it. I promise, itās orders of magnitude more insight than āHillbilly Elegy.ā

Itās been so awesome to have a front row view to Vicky Barone training. She put in so much hard work. Excited to see what tomorrow brings!!

Last week chloe gibbs Jeff Denning and Katherine Michelmore put on a banger of a conference Notre Dame Economics One of the highlights for me was getting to see one of my favorite colleagues present, something I donāt often get to see. Chloe is doing awesome work and gave a great presentation

Amazing to see The Excel Center's impact in cities across the country. What started as a crazy idea in Indy is now transforming lives all over! chalkbeat.org/colorado/2024/ā¦
