At the RIPTA service cut hearing in South Kingstown. The room is packed, it's no surprise why: South County, and Narragansett especially, is losing almost ALL OF ITS BUS SERVICE. A number of folks are wearing signs saying "I NEED TO GET HOME" Governor Dan McKee is stranding them.

Two hearings in Providence were overflowing with people saying they will not be able to get to work if you cut RIPTA service.

When I started my current job, I was without my car for a day during my first week, so I needed RIPTA to get me to work at 7AM. And it did. Bus arrived on time. Ride was smooth. What the Governor fails to understand about this issue is that ridership at RIPTA is low because service is already inadequate as it is.  RIPTA does not need to “right sized” by eliminating underperforming routes, rather the state needs to work with RIPTA to improve service on

Governor Dan McKee thinks we are fools. He thinks he can go on TV and say he won’t sign the budget because the legislature gave too much money to RIPTA, and then write to the board as though he is our savior. He underestimates the intelligence of the voters at his peril.
