December 6th is observed in Canada as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. This day serves as a memorial to the 14 women who were tragically murdered by one man at the École Polytechnique in Montreal in 1989. 🥀 #PWUConnects

Bill 229 has been introduced, changing the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, providing new protections for work-related vehicles. Drivers must slow down and proceed with caution when approaching a stopped work-related vehicle on the highway to prevent accidents and protect workers. 🚧

For the Month of April, the PWU’s Calendar Committee chose Maria Hora’s beautiful drawing entitled “Day of Mourning”. 🕯️ Thank you, Maria, for your tribute to those whose lives have been impacted due to injury or workplace tragedy. 🤍

Today, on April 28th, the PWU will mourn the lives we have lost, reflect on preventable workplace tragedies and re-commit ourselves to doing our part in preventing needless workplace injuries, illnesses and deaths. 🕊️💛 One injury, one illness, or one fatality is one too many.
