Huge effort led by Dr. Gloria Reithmaier clarifying the role of inorganic #BlueCarbon on coastal acidification and carbon storage.

Important new study led by Lukas Schuster Blue Carbon Lab Restoring freshwater #wetlands is a no-brainer to quickly stop emissions but the net climate cooling effect (radiative balance between CO2 sequestration and CH4 emissions) only occurs centuries after restoration.

Back from #Kenya where we installed automated devices to estimate the #water balance of a catchment in the Eastern Rift Valley. The tectonic lake levels in this region have recently increased and forced communities to move further inland. Jonathan Ren NUS Geography LI-COR

The latest mangrove #BlueCarbon cycle analysis and synthesis is out. Among many things, it includes the first global analysis of eddy covariance flux data from mangrove sites. Fernanda Adame led the way and many other scientists contributed. esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ec…

Fascinating study that measured oxygen production in the deep sea. Could the role of mineral-rich nodules on this planet be much more than powering electric vehicles? Nature Geoscience nature.com/articles/s4156…

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 Today is my first day as an Assistant Professor at the NTU Asian School of the Environment. I look forward to leading impactful research on wetlands, carbon and climate change in the Asia-Pacific region! Asian School Of The Environment

Our new research group the "Wetland Carbon Lab" is looking for PhD students interested in clarifying the role tropical wetlands play in the global carbon budget. Come and join us! Asian School Of The Environment NTU Singapore

Thrilled to see the first paper from my postdoc online! Here was asked a simple question: what happens to methane in canals draining tropical peatlands? Turns out, lots of it is consumed by methanotrophs! Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability YKAN Universitas Tanjungpura nature.com/articles/s4146…

Here is a short video to explain why #wetlands such as #peatlands, #mangroves and other #bluecarbon ecosystems matter for #carbon management and #climatechange mitigation. More field-based research is needed - join us at the Wetland Cab Lab Asian School Of The Environment!
