The first of its kind, Deep-Sea Minerals Technical Meeting, begun this morning at the Secretariat. The discussions aimed to enhance understanding of DSM issues, promote greater regional cooperation, and respect differing views and sovereignty, as is the Pacific Way.

Reflecting on our first of the two days technical meeting on DSM ahead of the high level talanoa later on this week. The very first for our region where Forum Members discussed DSM issues with the hope it promotes greater cooperation and respecting differing views.

Pacific Ocean Commissioner Dr Filimon Manoni this week joined The Lord Howe Rise and South Tasman Sea Research Symposium in Sydney, Australia. Dr Manoni was part of the Ocean Governance Panel that discussed legal frameworks, challenges and opportunities for the high seas.
