Red Star Belgrade often lay claim to having the longest and most foreboding tunnel to a sporting arena in Europe. However, that is nonsense, as anyone who has made their way from the changing rooms to the swimming pool in the old Sgoil Cheann a’ Bhàigh in North Uist will confirm.

Telling people what to eat is the dumbest hill ever for environmentalists to die on You simply lose And alienate everyone The ‘plant based diet’ stuff is not even well thought-through In agricultural terms it’s often nonsensical - we need more livestock in crop systems

This is bonkers. Just a few days ago Altnaharra was -19°C. Today it’s 13°C. Not only that, the Moray coast is currently the warmest spot in the whole of Europe, easily eclipsing Greece, Italy, and Spain.

2nd homeowners "forced to leave"? The whole problem is that they are not here. If they leave that means the policy was successful and locals and essential workers can afford to buy a home and live in the islands all year long.

Just to add, that’s inheritance tax, SFI (farm subsidy) gone, SFP gone, farm truck tax, fertiliser tax, NI increase, living wage increase, council tax increase, new Waste legislation, not sure my business has any more to give to this government, there is nothing left to give.

Tourism in the Highlands: today a journey that normally takes 45 mins took 1 hr 20 mins. But we can't possibly inconvenience the tourists with a tourism tax.....

Depopulation is around post-war rates in Caithness and Sutherland. At that time the HIDB was formed as a somewhat radical regional development intervention. Its successor HIE has had its budget cut by about 70% in real terms since 2007. scotsman.com/news/scottish-…
