I wear another hat as Emerging Public Health Crises director. Lots of partnerships with reference labs & public health/CDC over the years. Ben Bradley & I just published this work for anyone interested in the processes and considerations for EUA assays. authors.elsevier.com/a/1hj-R9Cms9Ox…

2 dermal punch biopsies from different patients in the lab today. Same end result diagnosis. These were disected out from the tissue. What do you see here? Thank God it is almost β„οΈπŸŒ¨ #parasitology Bobbi Pritt, MD ARUP Laboratories

I love Balantioides coli. 🦠 Such a fun organism...but, be careful with iodine and 40X objectives though...easy to overlook. 10X objective screening is critical for this organism. See the difference? Look at those cute little cilia! #parasitology ARUP Laboratories Bobbi Pritt, MD

This is amazing and cool to see. Admittedly, I have not seen this often at all. Continued development of embryos in Ascaris eggs...in fixative! Talk about resilient πŸͺ±! #parasitology Bobbi Pritt, MD ARUP Laboratories

This was a fun case. Beautiful little (lesser known) critter! "Sounds" like a pain though... πŸ˜†πŸ€£ Photo Quiz: An ear-resistible occupant in a 73-year-old patient | Journal of Clinical Microbiology journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/jc… #parasitology Bobbi Pritt, MD ARUP Laboratories JClinMicro EIC

journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/jc… Super excited for this new work our team published (Dr. Angela Ma now at Public Health Ontario & Blaine Mathison at ARUP!). When is Strongy, too much Strongy? Well, anytime... But especially...when moms look like they are taking their kids out to the park to play!? Three adult female Strongy and numerous L1 larvae. So much Strongy! #parasitology ARUP Laboratories

This was a fun. The worm was barely recognizable as a worm. It vaguely looked like a proglottid, but the specimen was badly degraded. Clearing the tissue with some lactophenol exposed the genus-level ID. Taenia eggs in utero. Hooklets visible even! #Parasitology Bobbi Pritt, MD

Really enjoying catching up with colleagues and learning new disciplines such as ASP, IP, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Never too old to learn new tricks πŸ˜€ Vienna is a wonderful host. If you are here at ESCMID 2025, please come say hi.

This was a very fun experience to present 5 years of work in just a few minutes. But the audience was great and the discussions with colleagues afterwards was very enriching. The AI movement is huge in microbiology. The more work and the more experiences, the better it will be!

A prime welcome back to the northeast. This poor patient had a rip-roaring case of anaplasmosis diagnosed initially by blood smear and confirmed by PCR. The ticks are bad this year!!! (Removed these from my clothes with packing tape after a casual walk in the woods!)
