We are relieved to hear that House of Lords have voted against child detention and acting to #ProtectChildren. The work isn't over yet. We are calling on the government to listen and pass these amendments to #StopChildDetention 📢
Since 2022, we've been campaigning for Southwark Council to train housing staff in compassion & respect towards residents. Last week, we gathered to design the training and celebrate its provision with Southwark Council & Stephanie Cryan. But how did we get from pain to change?🧵
🥬In Summer 2022, Cllr Kieron Williams visited Espacio Mamas, a group for Spanish speaking parents @PACTSouthwark. Mums from the Latin American community reiterated the struggles they had experiences when seeking help at the Housing Office.
🍁Autumn came... and still no training. Elene, Adela from @PACTSouthwark & Denise of OG Primary School, met with the Head of Housing Solutions at Southwark Council to remind her of the commitments. We had a productive meeting with possible providers agreed for the new training.
