The ever-popular, nightmare-inducing "necropants" are back for Spooky Season (they're a skin replica; not real) and they will make you rich! Head to my @past_mortems Instagram for a handy how-to guide to Icelandic necromancy... 🧙

This image is called "Halloween on the Brain" by suedetess on Deviantart. I post it every year on my Carlaween countdown on Insta (@past_mortems) because I'm sure my brain looks like this...🎃 Who can relate?

I wish I'd found this book by @Eatingartefacts sooner! A festive talk on this topic would be perfect at the pathology museum. Perhaps I'll start getting Dec 2025 organised now...👹

This Agatha Christie puzzle book is my favourite thing at the moment! I can't tell you how quickly my commute to work is passing daily, thanks to this. Hope there's more planned! 🔎

"Why we still love the overripe, absurd stories of Agatha Christie" I really enjoyed this adaptation but in this article some "absurd, overripe" elements referred to are from the *show*, not the book. Read the original material before reviewing! independent.co.uk/arts-entertain…

I'd go for something like 'Murder at the Vicarage' or 'A Murder is Announced' (both Marple) at this time of year. Great summery Poirot books are 'Evil Under the Sun' and 'Appointment With Death' ☀️🔍

I spied a wonderful little book stall at Greenwich Market over the weekend featuring lots of vintage Agatha Christie books at great prices. I grabbed that copy of 'A Murder is Announced' even though I have about 4 different ones. I just LOVE those Fontana vintage editions!

Please tell me you reveal the mystery of how she managed to insert eggs back *into* the hen, because the idea of that makes me cross my legs! It may well just be hyperbole, but still...🫣

Wish I could go! Having written about the true crimes that inspired her, I know there is still more info that I couldn't squeeze into my book. I'd love to see what you come up with, Kemper! Maybe a collab on 'The Science of Murder: The Forensics of Agatha Vol 2' is on the cards

I know!! I have such wonderful memories of these parades ❤️ Its awful that someone caused all those injuries during it. My heart goes out to anyone affected by the events in Liverpool, and I'm glad you weren't hurt xx

I'll be highlighting specimens on my Instagram and using actual TikTok as "@carlavalentineuk" - aiming for one a week but you know how life can get in the way 🤦‍♀️ Let me know if you want more 🫀💀🫁🦷🧠

I'm looking forward to chatting about skulls and death masks with Ian Skelly as part of BBC Proms tonight - my favourite topics! Tune into Radio 3 at 7:25pm. Come for the death chat, stay for the music! 'Bruckner's Skull' by composer Jay Capperauld is straight after 🎵☠️

Electrifying performance Scottish Chamber Orchestra BBC Proms last night and fascinating convo with Carla Valentine and Jay Capperauld in the interval about Bruckner’s obsession with skulls and the history of death masks. Could have talked some more with them both. Catch up BBC Sounds Its worth it!
