The patella tracking path in this recurrent patella dislocator is the green path! Entrance zone for the patella is between the ends of the medial and lateral ridges. If you take care of patella instability patients, please understand this.

Once you understand 3D, you will know that the patella enters between the medial and lateral ridge ends (green). Makes all the difference in your surgical planning

I post this to point out the efficacy of anteromedial tibial tubercle transfer for lateral PF arthritis. Interesting to me how some surgeons will do a PF arthroplasty, even in younger 30-60 year old patients. I’ve done over 1500 AMTTOs and recommend joint preservation

Save this dysplastic flat proximal trochlea of a recurrent patella dislocator. Just move the patella closer to the groove. Simple and joint preserving. Tried and true. No trochleoplasty needed

No guess work here. With 3D you see it all. Lateral entry to trochlea- just move the tibial tubercle to facilitate patella entry in a stable way. No need to alter the beautiful and congruous trochlea. Knee locked in extension- reliable TTTG, fixed proximal EPTP Easy with 3D plan

I’ve received images of seven failed trochleoplasties over the last few years, yet I haven’t seen an article on this topic. As I don’t do femoral trochleoplasties myself, other than proximal spur resections, I’d love to see images or comments on this topic. Attach in comments?
