After more than 11 years, it is with mixed emotions that I share my time at CTV Ottawa is coming to an end. My last broadcast will be on April 29th...🧵

When I arrived in the city in 2013, it felt like the start of something special. I was fortunate to not only be embraced by viewers and the community, but given a number of opportunities that would define my time in “the Capital.”

From being on the sidelines for the REDBLACKS’ inaugural season, to waking up early on weekends to host a show on 580 CFRA, anchoring weekend newscasts with my then-colleague, now great friend Katie Griffin, to launching CTV News at 5:00 in 2017.

It has been an incredible journey professionally that has led to covering some of the biggest stories in the country, including the shooting on Parliament Hill, Canada’s 150th birthday, floods, tornadoes, the COVID-19 pandemic...

(Ultimate Takeout Friday will always remain one of my favourites!) and many, many more. I don’t like using cliches, but this city really does feel like a small town in so many ways. The way people show up for each other in a time of need.

I’ll never forget people helping neighbours pile up sandbags as flood waters kept rising, or watching the community come together to support a person or a business facing a crisis. Those gestures, that love, are things that have left a lasting impact and make this city special.

To Peter Angione and Joanne Woo, thank you for giving me a shot all those years ago and supporting me along the way. Thanks to Graham Richardson and Evan Solomon for your mentorship…it means the world. To KG, my first co-anchor at CTV and fellow Golden Retriever-lover...

it was an honour to share that desk with you. To all of the reporters, producers, directors, camera people, editors, and co-workers, both past and present: thank you for your hard work, dedication to storytelling, and for putting up with all of my ridiculousness.

To the viewers, thank you for inviting us into your homes every night…for allowing us to share the stories that are important to you and for always sharing your feedback, good or bad. It has been a privilege, one that I will never take for granted.

To everyone who has cheered me on from near and far, thank you. Your support means more than you know! Above all, thank you to Tricia, my wonderful wife, who has moved a number of times to allow me to chase my dreams.

She’s the strongest person I know, who inspires and pushes me to be the best person I can be. So much of this isn’t possible without her love and support. I love you. Our boys were born in Ottawa and this city will always hold a special place for us.

While we are sad to leave, we are also excited about the prospect of a new adventure (details of which I’ll be sharing later). For now, we want to say thank you Ottawa. It’s been a blast and we’ll miss you!
