Then he goes on to ban the harvesting of peat for the production of food forcing us to import the peat from Latvia and he says he is green more like a greenhorn

Inflation is becoming a serious problem, and it is higher in Ireland than the euro area average, but the impact on food has been limited. Competition in the grocery sector has brought prices down. Second lowest rate of food price inflation in the EU in December

Very surprised at the big response to this. Every time we’re in a supermarket, we need to ask ourselves why the food is so cheap?

The type of farmer environmentalists want existed years ago but continual downward pressure forced farmers to specialise and become more efficient. Those that didn’t went broke. Nobody cared about them, same way they don’t care about us today. 🤷‍♂️

Shelves empty of eggs is just the tip of the iceberg for supply chain problems. Time is running out to solve problems for growers. Salad days are over as farmers can’t afford to grow veg thetimes.co.uk/article/bb30a0…

If you’ve been to any Irish supermarket recently, you’ll know that fresh produce is in short supply. We need to do more to support Irish growers. At this stage, it is quite literally a matter of survival. Just ask pepper growers. Irish Farmers' Association Farming Independent Irish Farmers Journal

Mick Kelly asks if growers aren’t supported, what happens next, will there be no Irish veg? “You’ll never miss the water until the well is dry says Paul Brophy – it has to be supported” #FoodMattersTV

Can anyone explain to me how this is supposed to be good for the environment? We planted miscanthus in 2008 and like many others it was to supply Edenderry power. We managed to get away a poor crop for 2 years, couldn't tip it, had to be moving floor trailers. 1/2

Banality of evil is a phrase that comes to mind after watching #RTEInvestigates. Because what happened to those calves was evil but what's worse is industry leaders, farm orgs, Agri media and politicians who've known about it for years. Loudest shouters now are the ones to watch.
