Great news for Glasgow shipbuilding that Labour is intervening to guarantee funding for the new Rolls-Royce welding centre. It's disgraceful that SNP Ministers have actively tried to block a massive investment in our city's biggest manufacturing employer.

Not only is it an an act of industrial self-sabotage by the SNP Government when Glasgow needs advanced manufacturing investment, it's also hypocritical, given the only thing keeping the lights on at Ferguson Marine is subcontract work for Type 26 Frigates. ukdefencejournal.org.uk/ferguson-marin…

How many IRTBs, conferences, ITT, working groups, endless Teams meetings, onboarding consultants, demonstrations, procurement, oversight, reviews, acceptance tests, tranches of AHs, SO1 & 2s, months/years of Badmin & biblical piles of cash would this take us?

Labour again making the grown-up decisions to build Scotland's economy, that the SNP Govt, even after 18yrs in power, are unable/or unwilling to take responsibility for. An Administration in La La Land. #SNPAlwaysDeflecting

SNP Minister Mairi Gougeon "exposed the logical incoherence" of the Scottish Government’s defence stance, says Paul Sweeney, who calls the policy “industrially naive” and “hypocritical” after funding was pulled from a key Glasgow welding centre. ukdefencejournal.org.uk/snp-defence-st…

So both the SNP and Reform want to scrap the Barnett Formula. The SNP want Full Fiscal Autonomy that will cost Scotland £12.8bn. Reform want to scrap the Barnett formula but won’t even say what would replace it. Barnett means £2,300 extra per head in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿for public spending.

A decade ago, I was working at Govan Shipyard on the early development of a new indoor ship assembly hall that would make our shipbuilding industry globally competitive. As a Glasgow MP and MSP, I advocated in Parliament for the investment to get the assembly hall built.
