As #VEDay80 draws to an end I want to thank town & community councils across Monmouthshire for organising commemorations/celebrations in your towns & villages. You are a credit to the county. You got the balance just right. A national picture so as not to pick a favourite 😁👏

As the unofficial honorary head of all things Visit Monmouthshire (it’s a love, not a job -I appointed myself after a fierce interview 😁) the walk from Old Tintern Station to Bigsweir Bridge through Brockweir must be just about as beautiful as this planet gets. The Wye Valley ❤️

Wales National Armed Forces Day 2025 is shaping up to be a great family day out in the magnificent setting of Caldicot Castle and Country Park, Monmouthshire. It’s free entry but only with a ticket secured in advance. There are a small number left. #ArmedForcesDay2025

Well I don’t know how this £36 million gap will be sliced across public services yet but it’s conceivable a Council like Monmouthshire / Sir Fynwy might be facing an unexpected recurrent cost burden of £1/2 million +. That’s a challenge…

I was looking back on this earlier with a smile - this amazing charity has planted 1/3 million trees in 4 years - think on that effort!! Clearly that number will be higher now. It’s also the right trees in the right places. Awesome 👏

I think this is so cool!! Off the top of the Blorenge overlooking Abergavenny, landing in the Castle Meadow alongside the River Usk. 21st / 22nd June. Monmouthshire is THE county for all sorts of festivals

It’s 1999. BSE is ravaging farming across the UK. Two farmers have a chat about starting a food festival. 25 years on, it is acknowledged as one of Europe’s greatest. So many try to copy, but you cannot clone authenticity. This is ABEGAVENNY FOOD FESTIVAL in Monmouthshire 🍱

It’s a good day for William Edward Hand and all MAGOR (past and present) - a decade plus of community action, often against the odds, has paid off in today’s spending review. A big step forward for your ‘walkway dream’. Stalwarts political and community based - well done 🚂👏👏

That’s such a lovely message Usk Town Council - you all work so hard to hold your deserved title of ‘The Town of Flowers’, it’s lovely to be able to lend a hand 🌷 🌺
