A little short story I wrote about my experience and a connection I felt with a magnificent Peregrine Falcon in Tawd Valley Park. Please grab a cuppa, a biscuit and take a minute out your day to relax and take a read. Thank you. friendsoftawdvalley.org/a-peregrine-fo…

The state of the River Douglas is an absolute tragedy - destroyed by water company fly-tipping and years of inaction. How much longer can the last remnants of life survive in this catastrophic sewage pollution? When will anyone take notice?

Today was the start of Mayfly in the Classroom at Dalton St. Michaels Primary School. FoTV is collaborating with Groundwork in Cheshire, Lancashire & Merseyside, WLBC Rangers and The Wild Trout Trust to bring to life the enigmatic mayfly of the River Tawd for the children of Class 2.

The Mayfly in the Classroom project is moving along beautifully at Dalton St Michael's CE Primary School. We have quite a few Mayfly hatched already. Very exciting!

Groundwork and FoTV were back at Dalton St Michael's CE Primary School this afternoon continuing with the Mayfly in the Classroom project. In today's session the children discovered what predates mayfly and the effects pollution has on river ecosystems.

Team Tawd and Ranger Chris installed interp' boards in the valley, today. They inform about the valley and its wildlife. A big thank you to everyone for their efforts, not forgetting Mike Flaherty and Ranger Hannah who collected the info and designed the layouts of the boards.

Out early - 4 bags litter-picked from around Tawd Valley Park and new children's area. And 4 shopping trolleys, a BMX and shopping basket pulled out the River Tawd. I'm knackered. 🤣🤣🤣

Children had a great time at the FoTV kingfisher club yesterday. They learnt about birds that they may see in their garden and also in Tawd Valley park. After the learning input they had great fun making their own unique paper plate birds and some fantastic binoculars.

Did you know that 2 years ago we fixed little signs to a number of bridges in Tawd Valley Park? These help the community contact the Environment Agency should they witness river pollution in the Tawd. Hopefully these signs will help improve river quality through faster reporting.

This afternoon in Tawd Valley Park we were joined by Dr Paul Gaskell of The Wild Trout Trust, who provided an excellent training session on how to identify trout redds. The training will help us towards reaching gold chapter accreditation of the WTT's Trout in the Town project.

The state people left the Amphitheatre in after sledging in the snow was an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!!! In today's clean-up, I've litter-picked ELEVEN bags, pulled a shopping trolley out of the River Tawd and collected various large items from Tawd Valley Park and surrounding area.
