Worrying findings by Alasdair and colleagues: "We injected 100% AI written submissions into the examinations system in five undergraduate modules. We found that 94% of our AI submissions were undetected" and achieved higher grades than students journals.plos.org/plosone/articl…

New paper! We found that a) US-Democrats and Republicans have much more in common than they think, b) showing these similarities reduces polarisation and (c) elicits hopefulness for the future and trust in the other group. With Paul Hanel EASP doi.org/10.1177/194855…

More evidence that so-called 'high-quality' journals aren't better: "... the quality of preregistrations was not associated with the journal’s reputation—neither the Journal Impact Factor nor the Transparency and Openness Factor." osf.io/preprints/osf/… #academia

There has been no increase in the economic diversity of elite private and public colleges over the last century. However, these colleges have become more racially and geographically diverse.

Thank you for sharing our research. Since this article was published, we have now also extended it and shown that there are substantial similarities in values between Democrats and Republicans. Highlighting those similarities can reduce polarisation journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/19…

So, I've just spent a bit of time looking into the debate on IHT and farming. I... got a shock. First, a note: I have a friend who runs a family farm. In his view, the whole thing is a something and nothing. 🧵

Isn't it a bit strange that we are supposed to “just do interdisciplinary research” without ever becoming professionalized in it? Together with my co-authors, we looked for a solution to this problem. academic.oup.com/spp/advance-ar…

Last Friday members of #essexpsychology had the opportunity to tour Westminster, observe a parliamentary session, and engage in training with the Industry and Parliament Trust, learning strategies to use our research to make real world change through engaging with public policy!

We love to share new papers on here. But how many of the studies that scientists preregister on the Open Science Framework are never shared publicly? In a new paper in AMPPS we estimate 40% of preregistered studies are never shared. That’s a lot. 🧵⤵️ journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/25…

Interesting study: "trust in political institutions is eroded when there is overrepresentation of those educated in the private sector." ... "privately educated individuals—who represent >7% of the [UK] population but 30%–70% of the political cabinet" doi.org/10.1111/bjso.1…

New paper: Across 3 experiments, we found that people react more positively to a happy (vs angry) voice - no surprise here. But more interestingly, highly empathic people were especially drawn to happy voices. doi.org/10.1037/emo000…
