(1/3) We’ve just wrapped up our lunchtime webinar in collaboration with HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention (NOSP) on suicide prevention training for Irish health & social care students—plus the launch of our new pilot Train-the-Trainer programme!

(1/2) On March 10th and 11th, the SAMAGH project team hosted face-to-face simulation training at the ASSERT Centre, UCC. Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) and psychiatrists participated in the simulated learning experience.

[2/5] NSHRI reports ▶️12,705 self-harm presentations to hospital by 9,748 individuals in 2022 ▶️12,792 hospital self-harm presentations by 9,786 individuals in 2023 ▶️A rate of 197 per 100,000 individuals presenting to hospital following self-harm in 2022& 191 per 100,000 in 2023

[3/5] Findings from the Annual Report 2022/2023 showed: ▶️No increase in hospital-presenting self-harm during or towards the end of the pandemic Outcomes demonstrate the importance of ongoing surveillance to monitor the potential impact of the pandemic on these behaviours

[4/5] Trends highlight need: ▶️To further develop outpatient & inpatient mental health services in Ireland for individuals engaging in self-harm, particularly vulnerable groups ▶️For activities to reduce access to means, early intervention and prevention measures
