This is very important in understanding the Canadian election. Not surprising that it's Greg Lyle with the insight. Just a super smart guy (along with a bunch of other Canadian pollsters, actually).

As there may be some confusion, it is important to understand that Elections Canada does not change riding boundaries. This process is handled by the non-partisan Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission. In each province, they will conduct extensive consultations and reviews.

It’d be very helpful for someone to write a genealogy of conservative campaign styles, so we could understand which ones Trump adopted (and restyled) and which one conservative parties have adopted from him. It would improve analysis of conservative failures and success a lot.

Marc Garneau was my role model, mentor, 30-plus year close friend and a brave and exemplary Canadian for us all. My heart goes out to his family. The world has lost a very good man.

A Marc Garneau memory: when the Clooney-Bullock space movie “Gravity” came out, I pulled him aside at post question period scrums to ask if he’d seen it. He had and began listing all the inaccuracies in great detail. 1/

Marc Garneau was a Canadian and a human of the highest rank. A life of tremendous accomplishment, in military service, space, public service, and elected office. I remain awed by his raw intelligence, practicality, and humility. What a terrible loss. Vale, Mssr Garneau.

A food policy test: does the policy increase or decrease the chances a person will try new food and open up their world a bit more? Canada fails this. No food vendors in Toronto. Prohibitive tarriffs on good cheese. Etc. It denies a richness of experience to a lot of people.

Heard the sad news about Brian today and thought about all the years I’ve been listening to him and admiring his genius. Rest in peace dear Brian.

So sad losing Brian Wilson and Sly Stone the same week, two giants of the Renaissance. What an extraordinary era to grow up in! We are the luckiest generation that will ever be.

There's a Venn diagram you could draw of pure musical talent and genius. You'd have to put Glenn Campbell (who played on the below) in the talent circle. You can put a few people in the genius circle, too. Dylan chief among them. But right in the overlap is Brian Wilson.

I think the issue is the "nudge" movement has misunderstood the point of the original "libertarian paternalism" paper and the "nudge" book. Original works argued that seemingly irrelevant factors can have an impact on behavior when *a set of conditions are met*🧵
