On Thursday I’m speaking at the Carmichael Centre and Centre for Future Work Symposium on Cost of Living Challenges in Melbourne. Will be calling for changes to _ve gearing, CGT and more govt investment to give the working class a chance of a secure affordable home.

His family requested privacy & suggested fans "kick a football, enjoy a hearty bowl of pasta, plan your next adventure to somewhere intriguing, or ask a curious question you think needs answering" in his honour. Rest in peace, George Negus. Truly a great. abc.net.au/news/2024-10-1…

On 6 November 1932, the German national election saw the Nazis receive 33% of the vote. 85 days later Hitler was appointed Chancellor. It was to be the last free German election for 17 years (or 58 years if you're unwilling to exclude East Germany from that calculation).

Love it when Qantas sends you an "Important update" saying "please check in ahead of your flight via the Qantas App or at qantas.com/checkin" due to "planned [IT] system upgrades", but then you discover that "online check-in is unavailable for this flight".

This is what I wrote in 2021. I was ridiculed and worse. I am from Nuremberg. I stuck my head out and called for strategic price controls because I had studied the history of inflation and inflation control for years and was worried inflation would bring Trump back.

If Trump implements even half of the policies he’s promised, the USA will soon be a very unattractive place for the world’s brightest researchers and students. It’s a unique opportunity for countries like Australia to seize the opportunity to turbocharge our research sectors.

Inflation is within-target-zone and falling, yet RBA won't cut rates. Other central banks are cutting quickly, but the RBA's perverse ideological inflexibility is amplifying the pain felt by working people. Our Jim Stanford explains for The New Daily: thenewdaily.com.au/finance/2024/1…

I read the post on SkyNews on their website before this deletion. Remarkably, it gave a much clearer depiction of what the Israeli fans had been doing before the assaults on them than did the ABC News coverage.

The relative number of users on X and Bluesky vastly overstates X's importance. In theory, I've many more followers on X than Bsky. But I just posted something on both forums that got a far greater response on Bsky. I'd say most on X have left, just not closed their accounts.

Folks, you're yelling into an airport hanger that was once full of people. Now it's almost totally empty, apart from a few engineers and a lot of robots that yell back at you to make you think someone's listening. They're not. See you in another place. You've heard about it.

I'm leaving X. You'll find me in Bluesky. Lots of reasons. Most are obvious. But you'll be shocked how much higher engagement is there. Like most people leaving X, I won't close my X account. With trolls, and well-known difficulties in doing so, why would I bother?
