Sheriff was happy w/turnout for the 2nd community meeting on the jail project. We had almost twice the number of attendees as the 1st meeting. Community education/dialog are crucial parts of this process & will help the county formulate a plan to move forward w/community support

85th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally starts Friday. Hill City is starting to see an increase in motorcycles so please drive careful. Main St in Hill City will be closing tomorrow to allow motorcycle access and motorcycle parking only. All other traffic will need to use Railroad Ave.

Keystone was busy today with motorcycles and almost no room for parking. Please slow down when going through town with so many people using the crosswalks. With the 85th rally, there may be more motorcycles this year. Please slow down and be aware of blind spots.

WHO do you know who would save an injured owl? This lil guy was badly wounded on Hwy 40 near Keystone. Sgts. Mossman & Nelson were out and about when they found him. They got the Raptor Society involved, who collected the owl to tend to its health & try to get it flying again.

A serious crash involving four motorcycles resulted in one death and 4 others injured this morning on Highway 16A/244 near Mt. Rushmore. Please slow down and drive carefully with the increased rally traffic.

Main Street Hill City is packed with rally enthusiasts! Everyone seems to be enjoying the low 80 degree temperatures and their time in the Black Hills.

Busy day in Keystone today revving up for the #sturgisrally in the black Hills.

The Pennington County Sheriff's Office 24-7 Sobriety Program is about accountability and keeping people in the community, employed and with families.

It started raining around 1:30pm & ended a little after 2pm in Keystone today. Reports of small hail in the Needles area, but none in Keystone. Everyone was watching out for everyone else and folks had a nice DRY gathering on the Boardwalk.

Another busy day in Hill City for the #sturgisrally ! Several crashes over the last few hours. Motorists need to focus on the roads and be alert to motorcycles.
