Alessia Matanó presented her PerfectSTORM research on the influence of drought on streamflow generation processes & regime shifts to a large crowd of interested people #EGU24. Papers in review & in prep.

Following the stories that flow from rivers I'm happy to be back in Iquitos with 2 MSc students doing their thesis on drought and flood policy effectiveness (Stefano), and on using serious games as a co-creation opportunity for rethinking adaptation measures (Senna). IVM - VU Amsterdam

Today we welcomed two new postdocs to the IVM - VU Amsterdam #drought group: Charles Wamucii (icisk_eu project) & Danai Kontou (PerfectSTORM project). With a small delegation incl Jose Henao, who started his postdoc last month, we enjoyed lunch in the botanical gardens Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (inactief) ☀️

The Amazon rainforest doesn't just remove ~2 billions tons of CO2 every year. It also moves ~20 billions tons of water through evotranspiration, the so-called "flying rivers", critical for planetary balance. I wish more people knew this.
