A sperm whale live stranded and died at Porth Neigwl, Ceredigion over the weekend. A CSIP team from ZSL Science are travelling to site today to conduct a field necropsy- highly unusual stranding, only the second sperm whale recorded in Wales over the last century.

Heading to Orkney to help our friends SMASS #CSIOfTheSea investigate one of the largest pilot whale mass strandings ever recorded in the UK. 77 pilot whales died yesterday, CSIP team from all parts of the UK heading there now, long few days ahead... #strandingsteamassemble

Attended the site of the pilot whale mass stranding on Isle of Sheppey, Kent earlier this week with my CSIP colleague Matt Perkins. Only possible to #CSIOfTheSea examine one of the whales- bodies of several others visible nearby, but impossible to access due to deep mud.
