Congrats to Mrs. Cooks and Dr. Lemons for being honored on Juneteenth at the Southwest Dallas County Alliance of Black School Educators (SWABSE) Student and Educator Awards Banquet for their district honors. Dr. Lemons was also named SWABSE Principal of the Year at the event.

Congrats to Permenter scholar, Esau Hurd. He participated in TBAAL’s 40th Annual Summer Youth Arts Enrichment Institute. Esau was awarded two awards in his first year of participation: the President's Award and Best Actor Award. He will be a 9th grader in the fall at CHHS.

Permenter alum and rising CHHS 9th grader Esau Hurd continues to blaze the Dallas theater scene! He was offered a scholarship to the 2025 Summer Tour of Broadway Dreams. His award winning performance earlier this summer with TBAAL's Institute opened this door. Way to go Esau!

Congratulations to Dr. Colbert, the new principal of Dr. Bessie Coleman. Dr. Colbert was officially introduced to the community this evening at tonight’s board meeting surrounded by a host of family, friends and colleagues. We know great things are in store!

On a break during professional development today, Dr. Lemons ran into a precious (and some may say recognizable family). She really enjoyed meeting the Lee family!
