Our Persian Leopard Working Group (PeLeWG) has celebrated #InternationalLeopardDay by nominating 10 rangers from Afghanistan, 3 from Iraqi Kurdistan and 3 from Pakistan for awards to appreciate their dedication and professionalism. On May 23, University of Haripur Wildlife Ecology Lab organized the Ranger Award Ceremony to appreciate the achievements of Pakistan’s rangers in wildlife conservation. The three nominees received the field kits, equipment and cash prizes due to support from Persian Leopard Working Group (PeLeWG) . Thanks all!

The Ranger Award Ceremony took place on June 5, 2024 at the National Environmental Protection Agency in Bamyan, Afghanistan under support of @persleopwg and cooperation with WCS Afghanistan. The 10 nominated rangers received cash prizes and appreciation letters.

On World Ranger Day of July 31, Leopards Beyond Borders and the General Directorate of Forest Police gave @persleopwg Ranger Awards to three exceptional rangers from Iraqi Kurdistan to celebrate their outstanding contributions to the conservation of Persian leopards and other wildlife.

Persian Leopard Working Group (PeLeWG) supported Hana Raza from Leopards Beyond Borders to participate in the Training for Trainers on Community-Driven Conservation course (Mongolia, 3-7 Feb). Organized by Snow Leopard Trust, Ethical Conservation Alliance (ECA) and Snow Leopard Conservation Foundation, based on the PARTNERS principles.

The Persian Leopard Working Group (PeLeWG) supported Kaveh Hobeali from Future4Leopards (Iran) in “Engaging with Indigenous People and Local Communities for Biodiversity Conservation” (Kathmandu, 5-8 Mar). Organized by Snow Leopard Trust, Ethical Conservation Alliance (ECA) and Red Panda Network, the PARTNERS principles in focus.

Persian Leopard Working Group (PeLeWG) participated in Technical Workshop for the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) Central Asian Mammals Initiative (CAMI), 6-8 May 2025, Vilm Island, Germany to revise its work program and suggest the expansion of SW Ustyurt and Kopetdag conservation units where Persian leopards live.
