Safe Passage held a Senior Banquet to recognize 12th Graders for their achievements as they graduated high school last week. Additionally, 8th graders were recognized. Thank you to all the Student Safety Ambassadors and to all families who joined to celebrate their achievement!

SWAT is in the 1300 Rutherford Ave. for a male in crisis who is believed to be armed and barricaded inside a vehicle. Negotiators are on scene. Please avoid the area at this time.

UPDATE: This incident has concluded. Police and a co-response social worker attempted to assist a male experiencing a mental health crisis. The case has been referred to Resolve.

UPDATE: Robbery/Homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Isreal Moseby in connection with this incident. Moseby is charged with Criminal Homicide, Persons not to Possess , and carrying a firearm without a license. He is currently in the ACJ on unrelated charges.

At ~ noon, Police responded to the 200 block of S. Highland Ave. for a reported robbery. An employee said two juvenile males entered the store. They pepper-sprayed the employee while armed with a suspected firearm, stole merchandise, and then fled. Info: bit.ly/44emR27

ALERT: Grant Street is currently closed in the area around the City County building. The crowd is large and growing. Motorists are encouraged to find an alternative route through Downtown at this time.

UPDATE: The crowd is moving northbound along Grant Street headed toward the Federal Building. Drivers should continue to avoid the area at this time.

UPDATE 2: A large group of demonstrators has moved down Penn Ave. through the Strip toward Main St. in Lawrenceville. A second group of about 500 people has moved from Freedom Corner to Grant St. Drivers please heed the crowds. Police are directing traffic.

FINAL UPDATE: Both groups have dispersed and Grant Street has reopened to traffic.

At ~10:30 pm, Police responded to a collision at Frankstown Ave and N Lang Ave. An adult male bicyclist was hit by two vehicles driving side-by-side while speeding. Both vehicles fled. EMS transported the victim to the hospital in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing.

Pittsburgh EMS, Police, Fire, and Park Rangers responded to the intersection of Farmhouse Drive and Reservoir Drive in Highland Park for a report of a single-vehicle accident involving a vehicle that had gone over a cliffside. To learn more, visit: bit.ly/4ef5D8o

ALERT: Washington Blvd. is closed between Negley Run and Allegheny River Blvd. due to the heavy rainfall. The floodgates have been activated. Please do not drive around any barriers or through flooded roads.

UPDATE: The floodgates have been lifted and Washington Blvd. has reopened to traffic.

At ~1:30am, Police, Fire, & EMS responded to the 7000 block of Churchland St. for shots fired. An adult male was located w/a GSW to the head. He was transported in critical condition. The Mobile Crime Unit processed the scene & Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating.

At ~4:45am, Police were working a dedicated patrol in the area of Perrysville Ave. & N Charles St. when they heard shots being fired in the vicinity. Officers located an adult female victim w/a grazing GSW; she was transported in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.

At ~4pm, Police were called to Kirkpatrick St. to serve a PFA (Protection From Abuse) order on an adult male w/other active warrants. He barricaded himself in the residence & SWAT operators were called out. He was taken into custody @ 6:17pm. Additional charges are forthcoming.
