BREAKING: FIRE is suing Secretary of State Marco Rubio, challenging the laws he is using to target lawfully present noncitizens for speech protected by the Constitution. No administration should be able to deport lawfully present noncitizens for their opinions.

2/ FIRE’s suit seeks a landmark ruling that the First Amendment bars the government from deporting noncitizens for protected speech. Rubio has invoked two immigration laws—one allowing him to revoke visas, another letting him target speech seen as a threat to U.S. foreign policy.

Between Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka, I mapped 3 200 russian 🇷🇺 airstrikes in 3 months, including 1 400 new ones from july 11th to august 11th. Russian airforce is launching massive strikes at ukrainian 🇺🇦position, supporting a large offensive. 🧵THREAD🧵1/23 ⬇️

Seriously, if the entire humanities is supposed to answer for every random grad paper titled "The Poetics of Queering University Land Acknowledgments" then STEM sure as hell should answer for DOGE and their ideological ransacking that was infinitely more damaging

Ezra Klein's interview with Philippe Sands is very good overall. But I want to reiterate that the ICJ has never said that the definition of genocide requires a "single intent." Nor does the ICJ's standard of proof preclude a finding of genocide in cases of plural intent. 1/🧵

James Stewart is number three, behind Foucault and Shakespeare, and while I’m guessing a simple search would reveal it’s not this James Stewart, I’m going to choose to believe it is anyway.
