A real surprise Hilbre Bird Obs today when this very juvenile Wheatear was trapped & ringed. I donât recall seeing one this young on the island before #birdringing

Juv Rock Pipit CBV was the latest to be colour ringed Hilbre Bird Obs today as part of our long term study. Weâre already getting some fascinating results. 33 colour ringed birds have generated nearly 200 sightings

8 species of butterfly recorded Hilbre Bird Obs today including a few stunning Common Blue. Large White, Green-veined White, Red Admiral, Small, Tortoiseshell, Meadow Brown, Gatekeeper & a Large Skipper #cheshirebutterflies

This Rock Pipit was ringed as a juv on 30.07.20 Hilbre Bird Obs by our chairman Chris Williams Hilbre* . It was retrapped today, sexed as male in breeding condition & colour ringed. It was retrapped soon after it was originally ringed but not seen since #hilbrebirdobs #birdringing

A beautiful sunny day Hilbre Bird Obs today surrounded by the call of juv Sandwich Terns begging for food off parents. Lots of butterflies around and lots of Six-spot Burnett Moths nectaring on thistle flowers

Delicate blue Harebells are in flower Hilbre Bird Obs at the moment. Commonly known in folklore as âWitches Thimblesâ or âfairy bellsâ.

Male Common Blue providing a splash of halcyon blue Hilbre Bird Obs today. One of 10 species of butterfly recorded

The passage of Common Sandpipers Hilbre Bird Obs continues. This bird surprised me in the west side so just time for a quick record shot

2 juvenile Stonechats were a surprise Hilbre Bird Obs this morning in the Obs garden. The nearest they breed is Red Rocks nature reserve. After posing for photos they promptly disappeared
