The similarities between aviation and medicine are often oversold but we do share a reliance on humans working in high reliability teams. Thank you to RCSI SIM staff and amazing Emergency Medicine students for listening to my rants. #humanfactors

This brave aviator taught me how to fly this thing a quarter of a century ago. He has fully recovered from the trauma. Great kick-off to Centenary celebrations this week. #IAC100

Another great day in RCSI SIM. Amazing skills, and excellent teamwork. I appreciate them listening to an outsider who thinks Rocuronium is the name of a Eurovision Song Contest entrant.

Great work by the staff of #AnCosantoir and Comdt Pete Smyth, marking 100 years of Irish military aviation. They even persuaded the (allegedly) busy Cathal O'Donnell to put pen to paper on our relationship with the National Ambulance Service šŸ‡®šŸ‡ŖšŸš‘ in the last 10 years of EAS.

10 years ago we flew the first EAS mission. Seems like yesterday. Since then thousands have benefited from the partnership between Air Corps and National Ambulance Service šŸ‡®šŸ‡ŖšŸš‘. Teamwork making the dream work!

Pilot Essentials: A giant watch to let people know you are a pilot… in case you failed to squeeze it into the first 10 seconds of the conversation.

Our new Crew Resource Management Instructors, a mix of young (and old!) pilots together with Garda and Paramedics delivered their first initial course this week. Law enforcement, medicine and aviation relies on humans working in high consequence environments. #humanfactors

Neonate team running a checklist before a NNTP transfer. Always a pleasure working with these teams…great leadership, comms and SOPs = able to absorb last minute changes of plan without a fuss.

Some great ā€˜Information Processing’ by the RCSI EM Simulation teams yesterday. It’s the bedrock to sound Decision Making. It’s like drinking water from a hose sometimes and we need tools to actively manage the red side and promote the green side.
