So disgusting, Anthony Albanese after years of supporting a Palestinian state has capitulated to Trump and Netanyahu. Says we will make a decision based on “time”, what does that mean? Be strong, be independent and true to your past principles. #Insiders

We don’t have one flag … we have a Union Jack in the corner with the stars of the Southern Cross. So we are still symbolically a British ‘colony’. When will Advance support Australia becoming a republic with a new unifying flag? That Aboriginal flag looks good.

There is no moral difference between telling people they can have shower so you can gas them in gas chambers and telling people they can have food so you can shoot them at aid sites. A holocaust is happening right before our eyes and the world is silent.

I’m as scathing as anyone about planning’s failings, but this was an uncharacteristic cheap shot by Alan Kohler, falling back on the economists’ fable of productivity measures. Why not talk about economists’ failures in n housing? Lack tax reform et al? m.youtube.com/watch?v=6iEhm-…

A one-off cut to student debt is welcome, but better would be students not racking up the debt at all. After 3 years the Gov still hasn’t axed the Morrison-era increase to fees, & no one is talking about fee-free courses which is what is really needed #auspol #politas

Great to see the Liverpool & Oxford Sts can cycleway open to the public & in use. A game changer to re-engineer such a major city artery, with plenty of buses, to accommodate a cycleway. Bravo @clovermoore.bsky.social #jessmiller & City of Sydney team #publicsydney

Here's some data on age pensions and asset tests. Pretty boring stuff. Nothing sinister. Just seems weird that a pensioner couple can have a $2m home $480k cash/investments $19,760 of investment income And pay nearly no tax and get a $41,210 age pension.

Why on earth do successive 🇦🇺 govts keep allowing giant multinational companies to reap super profits from the sale of our resources without paying tax?? 🤯 This $$ should be supporting Australians in health, housing, education etc. theguardian.com/australia-news…

AUKUS - what a joke! We just paid the Yanks another $800 million even as we are being told they won’t have boats to give us. In other words everything critics of AUKUS - me, Keating, Turnbull - have said has been proven right. smh.com.au/world/north-am…

A few months ago the Govt rushed through campaign finance reforms & give themselves millions of $ At the same time, they proposed a bill to legislate truth in political advertising. But they shelved it, so 🌏 Zali Steggall MP & I have brought it back for them. canberratimes.com.au/story/9027046/…

What an indictment of the exploitation of our university students - the desperate measure of having to make available free food. What about reducing exorbitant fees & HECS debts, stopping exploitation of international students, funding Student Unions to subsidise services?

More reasons why Hobart should not be subject to a gross stadium; overbearing, intrusive from every viewpoint, obscenely expensive, a poor state subsidising Big Sport. Instead that billion $ should be spent on socially & sustainably useful projects. nonewstadium.au/before-and-aft…

NSW Premier Chris Minns so poor on social issues, such weak excuses why pro-Palestinian demonstration shouldn’t cross Bridge. Just compare approved route of Sydney Marathon to March route! Again such overt bias - totally unacceptable

What if we designed cities, and the land-uses, densities and infrastructure that make them what they are, so that daily activity and exercise was just an ordinary, “invisible” part of every day life? It’s actually not that hard. You just have to change priorities. #HealthyCities

We pay far too much for electricity and gas in this country. Every time we open a bill we see evidence of government failure. The govt must stop allowing multinationals to sell off our gas while paying little or no tax, while we pay more for our gas than the people who buy it

Searing article by Australia Institute #PollyHemming in The Saturday Paper on the subtle supplanting of ‘customer’ in place of ‘citizen’. A symptom of the erosion of public institutions & democratic rights.

Finally an economist calling out the ‘productivity’ caper. Don’t they always just mean just profits anyway? Really are the only people who whine about productivity are people who don’t actually do any of the work in question?

Disappointing to hear the current Opposition attempting to score points against the Govt. over the latest closing the gap report esp given their track record. This should be bi-partisan. Ley should go to Garma.
