Breaking! A newly discovered gorgonopsian in the Karoo, Inostrancevia africana, belongs to a genus hitherto only known from Russia. This genus includes the largest top predator gorgonopsians known. It appears in the Karoo right before the end Permian mass extinction, 252 Ma.
