91110 at Leeds with 3A26, preferred to see it as Bradford Forster Sq, had it not been for a red light on the approaches to Leeds, I would have got on the Fishbowl to Bradford. 225 Group 6/7/25.

I did say I'd get it later (on Friday), and I did! A1A Locomotives Ltd's #Class31 31108 backs onto the train at Bury Bolton Street, which would be my final run of the Friday (Bury - Heywood - Rawtenstall - Bury). Bennybizzle approved I believe 😁

7th July 2005: remembering the 52 lives lost and the hundreds changed forever. I thought I was woken by thunder; it was the No.30 bus exploding 1km away. I battled across London to my shift, moving abandoned trains to depot ready for the 8th, a tiny contribution compared to many.

Today marks the 175th anniversary of the passing of our founder, Timothy Hackworth, the Wylam born pioneering engineer and Methodist lay-preacher. Hackworth was the locomotive designer whose "Royal George" built at Shildon, would prove once and for all that steam locomotive....

Sad news. From the outside it felt that it never quite worked out exactly where it fitted in. My thoughts are with everyone affected by this and I do hope something can be salvaged from this. expressandstar.com/news/2025/07/0…

Three years ago today, taking a photo of which I remain particularly proud. Operationally, they were something of a pain in the proverbial, but a ride onboard was unsurpassable.

Looking fit as a fiddle with polished brass & a fresh coat, Drummond 'Black Motor' 30699 awaits a return to Nine Elms from Eastleigh following an overhaul in 1954. A Dübs product of May 1897, it'd been rebuilt with a superheater 30 years later in 1927 under the order of Maunsell.
