In today’s episode of the 2021 virtual exhibition, Estelle Pignon from Université de Lausanne talks about her image “Eclipse in a petri dish”. We can see a colony formed by two strains of codependent bacteria, where they form patterns reminding us of a solar #eclipse. • 🎥: Carolina Elejalde • #sciart

Come and join us in Lausanne Université de Lausanne this August to hear the latest of synthetic biology research!
We celebrated the end of an incredible exhibition with the talks of Estelle Pignon and Patrick Aouad ✨️ Grateful for the #sciart discussions @mediathequeVS over the past months 🤍 a huge thank you to La Murithienne for our smooth and effortless collaboration. #scicomm
Very happy to present our latest preprint NCCR Microbiomes DMF UNIL in collaboration with @simon_vanvliet. Estelle Pignon engineered uptake and leakage rates in communities of E. coli amino acid auxotrophs and studied the effects on spatial arrangement and composition.
Excited to announce my first first-author pre-print from my postdoc at Yolanda Schaerli lab DMF UNIL with Florian Zoppi and Roberto Avendaño We’re establishing a combination of phagemid and crispr-based gene regulation for intercellular communication (a thread 🧵)
🚨Job alert! 🔬 I have 2 open positions (1 postdoc, 1 senior technician) in my lab (santosmorenolab.org) in Barcelona UPF Medicine and Life Sciences @the_PRBB funded by European Research Council (ERC) If you are passionate about #SynBio and #GeneCircuits, apply now! 🔧🦠 Info below👇 Please RT!
I’m thrilled to share that my bacteria have made their way from the lab to an exhibition! Shapes: Patterns in Art and Science, where structures from mathematics, materials science, and biology come alive. go.epfl.ch/Shapes2025. Opens Friday! EPFL Pavilions NCCR Microbiomes
