Appreciation post for our PJ Gopher Tortoises! Did you know.. ๐ŸขIt can dig burrows on land that are 8-12 feet deep and 40 feet long! ๐ŸขOnce they move out, the space is used for shelter and refuge from fires by other animals. All gopher tortoise burrows are protected by law.

Calling all of Pine Jog's nature detectives! ๐Ÿ‘€ Any guess on who might have eaten these leaves? Let us know in the comments! Animals may leave traces of their activities all around us. These chewed leaves were a pretty tasty meal for some of the smaller critters on our property!

"Leaves of three, leave them be" Poison ivy is a native Florida plant. Its oil, called urushiol, can cause a severe skin rash when in contact with the skin. Its leaves always consist of three leaflets and may be toothed or have smooth edges. Be careful and avoid contact!
