Stoat having a moment on the jetty over our pond. I think it is scent marking and trying to outdo the mink that was scent marking earlier

Camera trap highlights from National Trust Attingham Park last night include otter, mink, rats and our very first harvest mouse on camera trap in #Shropshire! This is also the first HM record I've had since getting involved with the national scheme. Mammal Society Shropshire Mammal Group

Some pretty impressive gymnastics from this polecat. The camera is monitoring a tree with a #pinemarten den box in it but only foxes and polecats have shown up so far. #shropshire #animals

Checking on this #pinemarten den box with a thermal scope for the first time today. No signs of any animals using it at all, partly due to the fox den that has appeared directly under it since installation 😖 #wildlife

Foxes have taken over my best pine marten trail in #Shropshire this year. Last year, I recorded martens several times here but no foxes. Might just be a coincidence, more research needed. #animals #fox #wildlife Mammal Society Shropshire Mammal Group

After a quiet year for getting #pinemartens on camera in #Shropshire, it is interesting to find that this is the only clip I've recorded in #Czechia this summer too and they are abundant there. Mammal Society Shropshire Mammal Group #animals #nature

There is a camera trap hiding somewhere in this photo. Having had a few stolen this year, I've been going to extreme lengths to hide cameras better. And now I'm having problems finding them 🤐 #trailcamera #nature #wildlife NatureSpy®

The closest I've come to recording a pine marten and badger on camera trap at the same time in #Shropshire...just a few minutes between the clips. Delighted that a marten has shown up after 4 months. NatureSpy® Mammal Society Mammal Research BBC Shropshire

Mammal surveying in the wonderful #Shropshire hills today. Signs of otters, foxes and pine marten recorded, so a pretty successful hike! BBC Wildlife #nature

Another lovely hidden wild spot in Shropshire explored today. There haven't been any pine martens seen here before but it feels like an area with great potential for them. Fingers crossed 🤞 Shropshire Mammal Group

A great turn out for my first #pinemarten presentation for a while. Lots of interest from more woodland owners about putting camera traps in their woods to find out if they've got martens. #animals #wildlife

The ban on snaring in Scotland, introduced as part of the Wildlife Management and Muirburn (Scotland) Act 2024, will come into effect on Monday, November 25th. From this date it will be an offence to set a snare to kill or restrain a wild animal in Scotland. 1/3

Great to be back in the forest office to check on camera traps I put out to record pine marten activity a few weeks ago. A quick scan through the clips in the woods showed a few interesting animals but I'll have to watch the rest later! #nature #research #animals

Lots of frogs out now which is nice to see. They are also dinner for many birds and mammals, so it's a good thing that they produce so many tadpoles! #wildlife #shropshire #frogs

Muntjac deer posing for photos during my camera trap checks today. Not a great species for helping habitat regeneration in the UK. But still a nice wildlife encounter 😳
