Dangerous precedent being set here. Sadly years of underfunding and cuts in the NHS has resulted in the Police being the main support in a MH crisis. Investment is urgently needed to enable timely, skilled and appropriate care.

32 years in the NHS and what a varied exciting career I have had. I have met some amazing people and made some wonderful friends. The NHS is probably the most challenged I have ever seen it but we must protect this amazing institution at all costs.

Very sad this position is being removed. Mental health needs and deserves real focus and significant investment. Keir Starmer I hope this does not mean that will not be the case. I was hopeful of a return to the noughties when mental health was given the focus it needed.
