Our best flowering year to date of the Alpine blue sow-thistle which was re-introduced to Mar Lodge first in 2019. It has been great working with RBGE who are the lead in this project and this week we were also joined by the NatureScot team. @RGBE_Science NatureScot #plants

Scottish populations of this beautiful plant have long been confined to cliff ledges by heavy grazing, so it's great to see this brilliant project restoring it to woodlands. A great day out with Highland Newt and other colleagues from NatureScot, Mar Lodge Estate National Nature Reserve NTS and RBGE Scottish Plants!

🌸 One of our rarest plants, the Alpine blue sow-thistle, is making a come-back thanks to some clever 'match-making' to produce healthy new seeds for planting. 📖 Check out the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh blog for the full story ➡️ orlo.uk/V0WrW #NatureRestorationFund
