Its nice how a film that strives to show you how simple, old-school values are still relevant...made its protagonist work for a newspaper. Glad they resisted the urge to "connect with the youngsters" by making him a YouTuber or a twitter celeb or something like that.

It's hard to imagine a realistic take on superheroes (like The Watchmen, Kingdom Come) set in India because they would instantly become gods. There won't be any conflict, the mob would rise to serve and worship the superheroes and fiercely attack any critics.

After recycling 80s and 90s nostalgia the 2000 nostalgia has finally arrived. Should quit everything and go live in the woods before 2010 nostalgia takes over pop culture coz that would just be screenshots of early social media layouts. sigh.

The most interesting, naturally occurring algorithm is chaos itself. Intuition, personality altering insights, synchronicity, life altering moments, meetings, important memories, form out of chaos, pure random. Algorithms feeding back what you already like can't match up.

The long awaited Manikandan bashing has finally arrived. He sees how people rip apart even the slightest hint of confidence and course corrects by being extremely cautious, which still comes across as fake to some. Poor guy 😂

I'm all for bold writing choices like sudden genre/tonal shift but I'm not sure I would have liked Meiyazhagan suddenly turning into a vigilante crime thriller and ending with Aravind swamy giving a speech in court Anyway here's my #Maareesan Review: cinemaexpress.com/tamil/review/2…

The reason we like ASMR/ambiance sounds is probably because our video/music consumption through the earphones is soo high during the mundane lonely activities like walking, cleaning, driving (moments when we usually hear ambiant sounds) that we subconsciously crave them.

They say movie grammar evolved from dreams like going from one scene to another set in different time and place. Yeah maybe movies should do that again and never show phones, laptops, screens in them like how dreams never do.
