When NC House Republicans says “accountability,” they don’t mean for programs they want to keep in the dark. Watch Lindsey Prather push for basic transparency on Opportunity Scholarships in the budget. #ncpol

During today's budget debate, I introduced amendments that would: • Keep more tax dollars for education in public schools • Restore the income cap for the private school voucher program • Increase funding for students with disabilities House Republicans blocked all of them.

Today, Reps. Lindsey Prather and Eric Ager spoke at a press conference with residents of Swannanoa, a community hit particularly hard by Hurricane Helene. They need support from the #NCGA as soon as possible. We need to act on further aid to #WNC. #ncpol

The House just voted to NOT concur on this relief bill. We sent a perfectly fine bill to the Senate that included grants for small businesses. They took all the grants out. Our region cannot recover if we're not helping our businesses recover too.

Session was supposed to start at 1 today. They pushed it back to 2. It's 2:40 now. We're ready to talk about a state budget and disaster relief. Where are the Republicans? #ncpol #ncga

"We're putting $1.3 billion over the next two years into the private school voucher program.. And [Republicans] want us to be grateful that we're putting $2 billion, total, into western North Carolina recovery?" — Lindsey Prather wral.com/story/north-ca…

I'm honored to be a member of this committee. Suggestions of ours have already made it into legislation, and we're working hard to ensure the Governor's office has all the information they need. Thank you Governor Josh Stein for your continued dedication to WNC

If these cuts are here to stay (&, it appears they are), we need to figure out how to make sure statehouse coverage stays, even amidst the cuts. Our ability to follow & participate in the level of government that (arguably) matters the most for our lives may depend on it (7/8).
