Hydrogen is the next generation fuel. I was excited to see firsthand the work being done toward that at Chiyoda Corporation’s facilities in Tokyo. The company is a key player in energy development worldwide, & our province is positioned perfectly to be part of that bright future.

The Premiers and I agreed to bolder, quicker action on internal trade and improved labor mobility when we met today with Prime Minister Mark Carney. Our great sovereign nation continues to face these wrongful tariffs from the U-S with a strong, united front.

Congratulations to my friend Tom Osborne, the federal Liberal candidate for Cape Spear. I know from working alongside you that your calm voice, your experience, and your love of community will make you a great MP. To the others in the nomination race, thank you for stepping up.

The Premiers & I had another strong, open discussion when we met with Prime Minister Mark Carney today. It is a relief to hear of his positive phone call with the President of the US. Congratulations, Prime Minister, on moving the discussion from destructive to constructive.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of another hockey legend from this province. My deepest condolences to the family of Alex Faulkner, the first Newfoundlander to play in the NHL. I was proud to present him with government’s Confederation 75th Anniversary medal last fall.

My thoughts are with the Catholic community in Newfoundland and Labrador today as they mourn the passing of Pope Francis. The leader of the Roman Catholic Church was recognized worldwide as a man of healing and I hope people find comfort in that in the days ahead.

My thoughts today are with the people of Vancouver and the local Filipino community. I have spoken with B.C. Premier Eby and expressed this province’s condolences. To the injured and the families of the victims, know that all Canadians feel your pain and are thinking of you.

It was great to meet with Hugh Adsett, Ambassador of Canada to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, to discuss our nations’ close connection. I also had the pleasure of speaking of our province’s vast green hydrogen and technology resources and potential at the Energy NL reception.
